Justin Bieber accused of attempted robbery

Los Angeles police detectives are investigating allegations that embattled singer Justin Bieber tried to steal a cellphone at a family entertainment centre.

Police spokeswoman Rosario Herrera said that a person accused Bieber of trying to take the phone Monday night (local time) at the facility that features miniature golf, arcades and batting cages in the Sherman Oaks neighbourhood.

Police didn’t give any other details. Herrera says detectives from the agency’s elite Robbery Homicide Division are investigating the allegations.

According to TMZ, the woman claimed the star noticed she was about to take a picture of him at Sherman Oaks Castle Park complex. He is said to have stormed over and demanded to see her phone to erase any photos. When she refused to hand over the device, he apparently began to wrestle it from her.

Despite allegedly snatching the phone, Bieber was apparently unable to access it due to a passcode lock. He reportedly demanded proof she had taken no pictures and is said to have made the woman’s young daughter cry after he allegedly began shouting and accusing her of “humiliating” herself in front of her child.

Bieber is yet to be questioned, but police are speaking to the woman who made the claims. The star may be contacted about the alleged incident later.

TMZ claim they obtained a photo of Bieber at the complex in question, with the website writing the blurry image shows a security guard trying to calm the situation.

Phone and email messages left with Bieber’s attorney, Howard Weitzman, and publicist, Melissa Victor, weren’t immediately returned.

Prosecutors are still considering whether to file charges against Bieber over an egg-throwing incident in January that damaged a neighbour’s home in Calabasas.
