John Mayer was reportedly “falling back into old patterns” with Katy Perry.
The couple called it quits last month after dating on and off since 2012, according to Us Weekly.
And while the outlet claims their breakup was amicable, Mayer’s suspicious behaviour allegedly caused the split.
“The last time they broke up – John won her back by making a ton of promises – he was going to put her first, but now he’s falling back into his old patterns,” a source told Hollywood Life.
“Like he shuts off his phone and disappears all day and night – he says it’s because he needs alone time, but it’s sketchy for sure. Katy isn’t willing to put up with any shenanigans. She’s devastated but she felt she had to do this to take care of herself,” the source added.
Many factors are said to have played a part in their rumoured split.
Perry’s schedule was supposedly one of their main points of contention.
“She’s stressed about the [forthcoming concert] tour, they’ve been fighting. It is probably for the best, because she is going to be on tour for forever. Of course this happens all the time, I can’t keep track anymore. But for now they are done,” a source told Us Weekly.
“Not sure how long it will last this time but yes, it is off for now.”
Perry has previously spoken of her love and admiration for Mayer, saying she was a fan of his long before they entered a relationship.
“He literally is a genius, as is evident from his songwriting. I always tell him, ‘Darling, you know I’m going to have to give your mind to science after you’ve passed, because we’re going to have to understand how all these sparks work,'” she told Billboard.
Mayer was once known as a notorious lothario. He has dated a string of famous beauties in the past including Jessica Simpson, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Aniston.
