‘Cory will forever be in my heart’

Lea Michele has broken her silence on the death of her boyfriend Cory Monteith.

The 26-year-old actress dated her Glee co-star for over a year before he died from an overdose of heroin and alcohol at a Vancouver hotel.

Michele issued a statement asking for privacy shortly after Monteith’s July 13 death and the star remained relatively silent about the tragedy.

However, overnight (NZ time), Leah took to Twitter to express her deep gratitude for the love and support she had received from fans while she mourned her partner’s memory.

She also shared about the deep impact Cory made on her life.

“Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support,” she tweeted, attaching a personal photo of her and Monteith which was retweeted 130,000 times in three hours.

“Cory will forever be in my heart.”

Monteith died at the age of 31 and his passing rattled Hollywood.

His Glee colleagues, including Michele, Dianna Agron, Jane Lynch, Amber Riley, Ryan Murphy, and others, held a private memorial for Monteith on Thursday.

Show executives revealed that, in light of Monteith’s passing, Glee filming for the show had been delayed and season five would now premiere at the end of September.

Monteith had previously sought rehab help when he was 19 and had always been open about his struggle with drink and drugs.
