Bin-raker Luke, Fat Keanu

How the mighty have fallen.

Two heroes of science-fiction’s biggest franchises have been snapped looking bloated and seedy.

Mark Hamill and Keanu Reeves, who fought off the forces of evil in Star Wars and The Matrix, are now struggling to fight the fat.

Hamill, who made his name as the fresh-faced Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy, was caught by the paparazzi this week raking through a rubbish bin for a used cigarette.

Pictures published in thesun.co.uk show the 61-year-old Hamill sporting a Jabba the Hutt-sized belly putting his hand into street bin in Malibu, California, and picking out a cigarette butt.

The Sun claims Hamill smoke the cigarette in his blue BMW and then drove to buy an burger and fries.

The antics don’t bode well for the new Star Wars trilogy Disney plans to make. Creator George Lucas hinted earlier this year that Hamill would be involved in the new films, the first of which is due out in 2015.

Unless Hamill is playing a gone-to-seed hobo Jedi, the producers will have an uphill struggle getting him back into shape – and out of the bins.

Reeves, 48, has managed to keep clear of the bins but not the junk food. He was spotted at Cannes on Sunday looking chunkier than usual.

Photographs of star showed him with paunch and double chin. He also looked shaggier and more tired than usual – a far cry from the zero-fat, muscular frame he had when he played Neo in The Matrix films.

The last time a picture of Reeves took the internet by storm was three years ago, when the Sad Keanu meme was born; Fat Keanu could be next.
